Social Security Fraud Report
January 14th, 2007

A female Social Security beneficiary contacted the North Dakota Social Security office to notify them that she had received a call from Social Security requesting her bank account information to update their records. She reluctantly gave them the information after being pressured to do so. On 12/22/06 there was a withdrawal from her bank account in the amount of $389 with the description of SMS Marketing. The bank researched the withdrawal and gave her a phone number to call to find out what the withdrawal was for. The phone number is 1-866-380-1481. When she called the number she just got a voice mail message. The bank reversed the charges and changed her bank account. She has contacted the Attorney General's office and reported the incident.
